HONG KONG - A summer training camp is set to broaden Hong Kong youngsters' horizons about the nation's development and achivement in aerospace and space science.

Jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in association with the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, the Young Astronaut Training Camp 2024 is one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series organized by the LCSD to allow local youngsters to understand the country's space programs and cultivate their interest in astronomy and space science.

Students will visit major astronomy and aerospace facilities, including the Beijing Aerospace City and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. They will also attend lectures on space science and aerospace technology and have the opportunity to meet aerospace experts and astronauts to learn more about the milestones of the country's aerospace development.

The nomination started in May this year, with 30 local secondary school students shortlisted after three rounds of the selection process to participate in the camp, which will run from July 26 to Aug 3.
