Hong Kong residents will have 17 days of general holidays in 2025 along with regular Sundays, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced on Friday.
In January, residents can enjoy the New Year’s Day on Jan 1 (Wednesday), while the first to third days of the Lunar New Year on Jan 29-31 (Wednesday to Friday).
For residents who work Monday to Friday shifts, if they take leaves on Jan 27 and 28 (Monday and Tuesday), they can enjoy a long vacation for nine consecutive days (Jan 27 to Feb 2).
If residents take a 4-day leave on April 14-17 (Monday to Thursday), they can have a 10-day holiday on April 12-21
In April, the Qingming Festival falls on April 4 (Friday), while the Easter Holiday lasts from April 18 to April 21 (Friday to Monday). If residents take a 4-day leave on April 14-17 (Monday to Thursday), they can have a 10-day holiday on April 12-21.

Three public holidays fall in May – the Labour Day (May 1, Thursday), the Birthday of the Buddha (May 5, Monday) and the Tuen Ng Festival (May 31, Saturday). If residents take leaves on May 2 (Friday), they will enjoy a five-day holiday from May 1 to May 5 (Thursday to Monday).
July 1, the HKSAR Establishment Day, which marks the city’s return to the motherland, falls on Tuesday.
If residents take leaves on Dec 22-24 (Monday to Wednesday), they will enjoy a nine-day holiday on Dec 20-28
In October, the National Day (Oct 1) falls on Wednesday, with the day following the Mid-Autumn Festival on Oct 7 (Tuesday) and the Chung Yeung Festival on Oct 29 (Wednesday). If residents take leaves on Oct 2-3 and Oct 6, they will enjoy another long holiday for seven consecutive days from Oct 1 to Oct 7 (Wednesday to Tuesday).

The Christmas day and the first weekday after Christmas Day falls on Dec 25 and 26 respectively. If residents take leaves on Dec 22-24 (Monday to Wednesday), they will enjoy a nine-day holiday on Dec 20-28.
