BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06 percent to 3,368.07 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.02 percent lower at 10,646.62 points.

The combined turnover covered by the two indices stood at nearly 1.52 trillion yuan (about $211.4 billion), up from 1.44 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.

Shares in the electron device and chemical fiber sectors led the gains, while those related to coal as well as hotel and tourism sectors saw significant declines.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.18 percent to close at 2,209.66 points on Friday.
