With the 2024 National Day holiday approaching, Shenzhen has launched a new initiative to enhance urban tourism experiences with the "Shenzhen City Walk electronic map".

The program – developed by Shenzhen Municipal Cyberspace Administration and Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Tourism, Radio and Television in collaboration with Shenzhen Evening News – offers a unique, customizable “cultural and tourism menu (文旅菜单)".

The electronic map features five themed routes: “Charming Metropolis (魅力都会)”, “Mountain-Sea City (山海连城)”, “Cyber Shenzhen (赛博深圳)”, “Tracing Pengcheng (探迹鹏城)”, and “Wandering the Special Zone (漫步特区)”. Each route presents a different aspect of Shenzhen’s character, combining its modern infrastructure, natural landscapes, and rich cultural history.

The map includes 50 recommended destinations selected from over 300 locations through a public voting process that garnered more than 1.28 million votes. Each destination offers a detailed guide, complete with route stops, suggested activities, and in-depth information to help tourists plan their visit.

Notably, the map’s five major themes cover Shenzhen’s varied attractions, from tech hubs and ancient villages to ecological parks and museums.

The new "City Walk" product not only enhances the city's tourism appeal but also provides a platform for visitors to explore the city at their own pace, with flexible itineraries based on personal interests.

The routes are designed for different types of travelers, from those seeking a leisurely experience to those looking for adventure in urban hiking or cycling through green corridors. The program highlights the city's blend of innovation and tradition, encouraging both locals and international visitors to delve deeper into Shenzhen’s offerings.

To promote the city's cultural tourism and support the growth of its international profile as a destination for both business and leisure travelers, Shenzhen authorities will update the map continuously with additional routes and guides, ensuring that tourists can explore Shenzhen’s hidden gems and new developments over time.
