Also in November, EdUHK’s Business Studies Team won the Corporate Financial Education and ESG Leadership Gold Award 2024 from the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK). EdUHK researchers are also making strides in various projects. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme, co-created with partners including The University of Chicago and the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, was officially launched on November 20. This initiative aims to enhance financial literacy among primary school students in Hong Kong, led by Christina Yu Wai-mui and her team of experts from the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies.
Additionally, the JC InnoPower Education Fellowship, a 15-month leadership development program funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, commenced in October. Spearheaded by Allan Walker and Lu Jia-fang, the program focuses on mentoring school leaders and fostering innovative practices within the education sector.
The Jockey Club Project RISE, directed by Kevin Chung Kien-hoa, has entered its second phase, continuing its support for primary school students facing English learning difficulties. The initiative has already attracted interest from over 150 schools and aims to expand its reach significantly over the next five years.
Overall, EdUHK researchers are involved in 188 ongoing and newly approved projects, supported by approximately HK$178 million from the Research Grants Council and other funding sources.
President of EdUHK John Lee Chi-Kin noted that this year marks the university's 30th anniversary. He emphasized the institution's commitment to advancing educational innovation through comprehensive support for researchers, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a focus on practical applications that contribute to societal development.
