HONG KONG – More than 300 Hong Kong companies will make their mark at the 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, which is set to begin on Tuesday.

There will be two dedicated pavilions covering a combined area of 1,500 square meters to show food and health products and finance and logistics services from 52 Hong Kong enterprises.

During the six-day expo, the Hong Kong government will hold the Shanghai Forum of the 2024 Hong Kong Investment Promotion Conference. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po will deliver speeches there.

The forum will also provide networking opportunities for mainland enterprises interested in going public and expanding their operations in the HKSAR.

Expo fuels innovation hub aspiration

Shenzhen International Finance Expo, one of the largest and most influential exhibitions in the domestic financial field, set be held from Nov 7-9 at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, has invited over 200 domestic and foreign financial institutions and fintech enterprises to participate.

Over 20 seminars and events will be held during the expo, which sets two main exhibition areas on financial services and financial technology, with a focus on catalyzing innovation in finance and bolstering new quality productive forces.     

Youth interaction through e-sports

Dongguan will be the central viewing location in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for the much-anticipated League of Legends World Championship, which will be staged from Nov 2 to 3.

Alongside the championship, the Dongguan e-sports carnival and an e-sports exchange involving youths from Dongguan, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will be held simultaneously. Sixteen youth teams from the four places have signed up to compete in the tournament, with several interactive activities planned at the carnival.

Some 20-30 local merchants will bring advanced e-sports equipment, exquisite handmade models, delicious food and beverages to the event.

On Saturday, the licensing ceremony for the Dongguan e-sports industry alliance will be held, marking a new stage in the development of Dongguan's e-sports sector.

Investment promotion in GBA

The 2024 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is gearing up for its opening on Nov 8 in Guangzhou.

More than 430 representatives from chambers of commerce, Fortune 500 companies, and industry leaders have confirmed their participation, as of Oct 23.

This year’s conference will feature dedicated exhibition areas for Hong Kong and Macao, showcasing their unique strengths and development opportunities. For the first time, a list of the top 100 foreign enterprises in Guangdong will be unveiled.
