A batch of delicately made Kwan Kwa, an iconic Chinese wedding costume for brides, is on show at an arts center in Hong Kong’s Shek Kip Mei, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of a precious cultural heritage.

Kwan Kwa is one type of two-piece Cheongsam composed of a jacket called Kwa and a long skirt called Kwan. The outfit is traditionally handmade and decorated with dragons and phoenixes.

The exhibition, which runs through May 20, is aimed at popularizing the traditional Kwan Kwa fashion and preserving the craftsmanship.

Hong Kong Cheongsam Making Technique is on the fifth batch of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage National List.
